The Berlin-Brandenburg Technology Forum, organized every year by the Center for Molecular Diagnostics and Bioanalysis (ZMDB), has proven to be very fruitful for all participants in the diagnostic industry.

In 2012 it will see its 4th edition and offers:

• The technology forum - where guest speakers will share their expertise and discuss recent significant developments of technologies in in vitro-diagnostics by science and industry in Berlin, Brandenburg and selected partner regions from Europe.
• The specially designed PARTNERING EVENT for diagnostics companies and research institutes allows SME’s to meet and exchange with like-minded individuals as well as potential co-operation partners from Europe. It serves as a platform to broaden and encourage possible growth opportunities in the field. This is done in co-operation with the Enterprise Europe Network.
• An exhibition for partner clusters and their companies in the field of in vitro-diagnostics. A wonderful opportunity to be seen, showcase latest achievements and get exposure to new developments and alternative opportunities.

The fundamental aim of the event is to bring together SMEs active in the field of diagnostics and give them the possibility to showcase their latest achievements. The conference will be split into three panel sessions followed by a questions and answer session. If an abstract is accepted for the conference, a full draft paper should be submitted by 15th April 2012.  Full paper submissions and authors will have reviewers' comments by 2nd  May 2012.  Camera-ready papers should be returned to the conference committee by 15th May 2012 for inclusion in the proceedings.

The workshop covers both the formal basis of the project from contracts to reporting and review, and the practicalities of coordinating a multi-partner, multi-country project to deliver the results promised in the proposal.  The workshop is aimed at research managers and administrators coordinating EU collaborative research projects.  It is also suitable for those managing their organisation’s participation in EU collaborative projects, or developing the management section of proposals for these projects. 

The workshop will be limited to 24 participants, to allow high levels of interaction and plenty of time for questions.

For the sixth year running, the Enterprise Europe Network is organising a partnering event in parallel to the main fair.  The event will bring together European businesses and research organisations from the mobile technology sector to discuss potential opportunities for collaboration.  In  2011, over 400 companies from 22 countries participated with approximately 1,000 meetings taking place.

The intention is to bring together experts, healthcare professionals and key public players in the field. The conference will be an opportunity to present, through practical examples, the key actors in the development of new tools and new ways of providing healthcare.

The objective of this seminar is also to promote discussion between industry players, focused on a key theme for the healthcare sector. This project will introduce a number of UK entrepreneurs, experts and producers in the field. There will also be the occasion to meet these key players, experts, entrepreneurs and various partners.

Subscription for the conference will close mid-January 2012.

This inaugural joint event will facilitate a morning of Industry-lead discussion and debate forums on key industry issues, followed by a networking lunch and an opportunity for delegates to source potential partners for their technology and products at a FREE afternoon BioBusiness brokerage event.

This event will offer innovative Scottish and UK Life Sciences companies an opportunity to debate, collaborate and Innovate with potential partners from Europe and beyond - all under one roof! The Scottish Life Sciences Association Plenary sessions will celebrate what we do well in Scotland - Successful business models, the Diagnostics and Medtech sector activity and the increased engagement with the NHS. The challenges of attracting long term finance will also be addressed.

WHAT'S THE OPPORTUNITY?
The EEN Scotland BioBusiness Partnering activity will focus on one-to-one 30-minute pre-scheduled company meetings. Last year's event attracted companies from throughout Europe and across the world, including Belgium, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain Greece and USA. Over 150 meetings were held on the day, with very positive feedback - three out of every four meetings were deemed to be "very useful" and will hopefully lead to future collaboration.

To complete this day of Life Sciences collaboration, and to further maximise networking opportunities, an evening of informal networking will be held at the Scottish Enterprise Annual Life Sciences Awards Dinner, also at the EICC in Edinburgh.  

This will be an excellent opportunity for UK companies to meet approximately 60 chemical purchasers/distribution companies from Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries to develop business in this rapidly growing sector.

It is anticipated that delegates from 11 countries will attend:

SELECTION OF UK COMPANIES

The selection of UK participants will be made solely by UKTI officials in the participating CEE countries.  Their decisions will be based on:

• Whether they can match the UK companies’ expertise with the requirements of their selected buyers/delegates in their respective markets.
• The information that you provide on your Expression of Interest form below.
• Background information on your website
• Ensuring that there is a good spread of UK companies from across all areas of the chemicals market.
